Horserace for September 29, 2011

Posted on: September 29th, 2011

By Erick Erickson VIA Red State

Herman Cain has finally found that path to victory while Michele Bachmann appears to have stumbled right off it. This past week, the horserace really went through a shakeup. Even Jon Huntsman has a pulse, at least in one state.

Rick Perry fell over. Mitt Romney is holding steady, and the primary calendar is reshuffling throwing in some greater complications for candidates. And everyone and everything from this week is about to be overshadowed by one event happening Sunday.

Florida has decided to move up to January 31, 2012, which will force Iowa and New Hampshire to move up to the first of the month. This complicates things for most of the candidates because it will cut off one full month of campaign contributions before the elections start. Not only that, but it puts the heat of campaign giving season into the holiday season without a recovery month before elections. CONTINUE

TuckerGate–The Daily Caller Is Making Some Palinistas Sound Like Liberals

Posted on: September 19th, 2011

By Fingers Malloy VIA The Snark Factor With Fingers Malloy

So this is delicious. In a complete kill the messenger moment, the Twitter has been blowing up over a Daily Caller piece regarding disgusting comments that Mike Tyson made about Sarah Palin. To read Tyson’s comments, check out Jeff Poor’s column here.

This got many Palinistas hysterical. But the target of their hysterical, liberal like over- reaction wasn’t the bat shit crazy Mike Tyson–no it was The Daily Caller. Why the Daily Caller? For printing his comments.

That’s right. New memo to everyone that writes stuff on the internets–you can not report anything that is said about Sarah Palin without a Palinista signing off on it…ever! If you do write about Palin without approval, it can only be a fluff column–you know, stories that her mere presence in a room can cure Scurvy and prevent the gum disease Gingivitis (you get the idea).

I could post links to several blog posts by several Palinistas who are outraged by The Daily Caller, but I am still trying to recover from my massive eye-roll (I will not even get into their tweets).

But of all the blog posts I have seen regarding TuckerGate, the worst offender was Greta Van Susteran. Her blog post was a peach. This is just the first paragraph:

That Thump You Just Heard Was Christine O’Donnell Being Thrown Under Palin’s Bus

Oh how the world changes in an election cycle.

To be honest, I was never really a Christine O’Donnell fan. I met her at the Right Online conference in Las Vegas in 2010, and she was a very nice lady. In my 5 minutes with her however, she didn’t strike me as someone that might be a United States Senator one day. Possibly an unfair measurement, but it was my first impression, and at least in my experience, those observations are usually right. As a result, I never fully understood the frenzy of the supporters of her campaign to unseat Mike Castle in the GOP primary in 2010. Sure Mike Castle was a RINO in the mold of Sen. Snowe and Sen. Collins, but at least it would flip a seat from a Democrat in a blue state to a Republican. Who knows what crazy things Joe Biden might have said about his former seat being taken by an “R” and how it would affect his gaffe track record.

Sarah Palin slips in the polls..but she’s not running

Posted on: August 31st, 2011

By T. LaDuke

I happened to come across a interesting article by Andrew Malcom from the L.A. Times about the declared GOP Presidential hopefuls. What I found most interesting is that Sarah Palin is included in this poll but has not declared she is a candidate. Now I know that there is a healthy faction of conservatives who are anxiously awaiting Governor Palin’s inevitable announcement in their opinion but in all fairness to her she should be allowed to declare or not in her own good time. Putting her in a poll as if she has declared is rather disingenuous and misleading.

If Governor Palin does decide to declare at some point and end the non stop speculation among her supporters and non supporters alike  her numbers would no doubt improve in a poll among the declared candidates.  She would be a top 3 contender immediately   crippling  any chance that the Bachman campaign has and putting a merciful end to the circus acts that candidacies of Ron Paul , Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman have become.

As for now she is not a candidate and with each passing day it becomes  less of a issue if whether or not she ever declares her intentions. Let’s deal with the reality of how things are not how we wish they would be.

‘The Undefeated’ Screens and Scores at Right Online Conference

Posted on: June 27th, 2011

By Glen Asbury VIA Big Hollywood

Right Online 2011 in Minneapolis-St. Paul was the site of the first screening of filmmaker Stephen Bannon’s much anticipated new documentary on the life and career of Sarah Palin, The Undefeated. Bannon had warned the assembled attendees that we would be seeing what he styled as “the R-rated cut.” The pre-screening buzz indicated that this phrasing was in reference to the opening montage of the film where, presumably, a bit of rough language was in store. As promised, the initial three-minute sequence lived up to its billing. CONTINUE

John Ziegler doubles down to the tune of $100,000

Posted on: June 21st, 2011

By John Ziegler VIA Daily Caller

When I went public with “The Sarah Palin I Know,” I expected that the reaction would be intense and mostly negative. I have not been disappointed. But no matter how clearly you see the flak coming in your direction; its impact is still unpleasant, especially when it is largely unjustified.

Before I address the response to the piece with more specificity and make a rather interesting proposal to my critics, let me first take some responsibility for making a couple of mistakes.

‘The Sarah Palin I Know’

Posted on: June 13th, 2011

By John Ziegler via The Daily Caller

For many reasons, the first week of January 2009 was clearly the longest and most difficult of my life. By late Sunday morning, exhausted and now preparing to cross the country for my grandfather’s funeral, I staggered out of the shower and my then fiancée told me someone had called.

“Hi, John Ziegler, this is Governor Sarah Palin,” said the familiar voice on my phone message. There was a pause. “From Alaska,” she added. It’s typical of Sarah’s underappreciated sense of humor to pretend this needed to be clarified. “I just sat down and watched your movie about 9/11,” she went on, “and it’s unflippin’ believable”—”flippin’” is one of her favorite expressions—”I would like to talk with you about this next documentary. Could you give me a call?”

The Power of Palin

Posted on: June 6th, 2011

By Teri Christoph Co Founder of Smart Girl Politics

Filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon recently previewed his newest film, The Undefeated, a documentary about Sarah Palin, conservative superstar and scourge of the left. Bannon (along with the fine folks at Citizens United) also made Fire From The Heartland, a movie that chronicles the contributions women have made to the conservative movement. The subject matter of his new film is sure to start a firestorm that will spread across the current political landscape.

The style of The Undefeated is similar to Fire From the Heartland, with news footage and personal photographs and video being interspersed with stock photos and vignettes. Gov. Palin herself is not interviewed for the film, but snippets from the audio version of her autobiography, Going Rogue, serve to clarify and expound upon several key developments in her life and time in the public eye. Many of her Alaskan colleagues and friends are interviewed, giving the viewer a better idea of what the pre-2008 Sarah Palin was like. And, as it turns out, she’s quite like the Sarah Palin of 2011: smart, determined and unpredictable.
