Obama Budget Proposal Fails to Cut Spending
President Obama’s 2012 budget was released on Valentine’s Day, just in time to break conservative hearts everywhere. How many times do we have to say that we want less spending before he’ll listen to us? It’s more frustrating than trying to make a phone call using AT&T Wireless.
The President’s self-proclaimed ‘responsible’ budget will double the national debt from $13.56 trillion to $26.3 trillion by the end of 2021. Keep in mind that neither contractors nor the government ever comes in under budget.
President Obama claims that his budget reduces spending. Someone needs to tell him that two plus two does not equal three. It’s true that Obama’s budget reduces discretionary spending. It does this byredefining Pell grants (government- sponsored college scholarships for poor kids) and surface transportation spending as mandatory spending. The budget also reduces spending in Iraq and Afghanistan by $38.2 billion in 2012.
Obama’s 2012 budget increases spending, and it increases taxes on job creators. Probably not the best idea in an economic climate where Americans believe that unemployment is the number one issue to be tackled. Remember, a boss has to pay his taxes from somewhere. She might have to let an employee or two go to foot the bill.

Michelle Obama’s $495 Gardening Boots Irk Me
In a post I wrote regarding Michelle Obama and her plans to parent our children for us, I remarked about her $495 Tory Burch gardening boots. A few of the comments wondered why I brought them up, and why, as acapitalist, would I have a problem with pricey shoes?
The boots were mentioned to remind readers of how out of touch with reality the First Lady is. The average American mama doesn’t have a single pair of shoes in her closet that cost that much, let alone gardening boots. When I’m inclined to work outdoors, I put on a pair of three-year-old sneakers that are practically falling apart.
Referring to the self-appointed mom-in-chief’s aloofness when it comes to relating to us regular moms was useful to drive home the point that she is not qualified to make our parenting decisions for us. Only the best for the Obamas, whether it’s boots, school, vacation, vacation, vacation, or vacation. The rest of us can eat cake. Or carrot sticks.

Michelle Obama Fights the Childhood Obesity Epidemic
First Lady Michelle Obama has a problem with fat kids. More specifically, she doesn’t like childhood obesity. Last year she launched the Let’s Move campaign, with the goal of ending childhood obesity in a generation. After all, it is a national security risk (insert eye roll here).
Lady Michelle promoted legislation to overhaul school lunches, which her husband signed into law at the risk of sleeping on the couch. She’s constantly on my TV when my kids are watching their shows, encouraging young viewers to get active. She even slips into her$495 Tory Burch boots to do some organic gardening at the White House.
Most recently, Mrs. Obama has been talking with the National Restaurant Association about providing smaller portions andhealthier options on the kids’ menu. She must know better than restaurateurs how to run their businesses.

IRS pays $33 million in bogus electric car credits
......the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was simply following an aggressive Obama Administration plan to reward consumers that purchase the costly “advanced-technology” vehicles. The president is on a mission to get 1 million of the environmentally friendly cars on the road by 2015.Bear in mind, this is the same organization that has been caught repeatedly issuing refunds to prison inmates.
As a result of that push the IRS failed to appropriately scrutinize claims, even when they clearly didn’t meet the criteria. In the first six months of 2010 alone, 20% of such federal tax credits were “erroneous,” costing U.S. taxpayers more than $33 million. Details of this latest IRS gaffe are laid out in a report released this week by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.
It reveals that the IRS granted the lucrative tax credit—worth up to $7,500—to gas-guzzling sports utility vehicles and even a bicycle. Among those who cheated Uncle Sam are jail inmates and even IRS employees. Some people got multiple tax cuts for the same vehicle and 29 prisoners received nearly $50,000 in alternative vehicle credits even though they were behind bars.
The American people can't wait until this organization is in charge of administering Obamacare.
Obama Grants Special Exemption to General Electric
When I was little, my mama always taught me that actions speak louder than words. Co-opting a phrase from the most widely owned and read book in the world, she told me that I would be able to discern a tree by the fruit it bore.
In other words, talk is cheap.
I’ve been reminded of this so often over the past couple of years while watching the Obama administration. Barack Obama claimed to be forbetter education, and then he ended the DC voucher program. He said he wouldn’t hire lobbyists, and then he hired lobbyists. He said he wanted make sure every American had health insurance, then he gavewaivers to businesses so they wouldn’t have to provide health insurance for their employees. Anyone else notice a trend?
The latest round of hypocrisy has to do with energy. In 2008, then-Senator Obama vowed to implement a cap and trade law that would limit carbon emissions and ‘necessarily skyrocket’ energy costs. Unable to pass cap & tax through congress, President Obama has decided to do whatever he wants anyway by expanding EPA regulation. Since I’m remembering phrases from my childhood, ‘more than one way to skin a cat’ comes to mind.
For the first time, the Environmental Protection Agency will regulate greenhouse gases from power plants and other major polluters — which will stifle growth, kill jobs, and raise the cost of electricity. But if you’re lucky, a polar bear will come hug you. Polar bear hugs are far superior to being able to turn on your heat in the middle of a snowpocalypse.

How to Maintain Internet Access Even If Your Government Turns It Off
Sad to say, the Obama administration, through its Senate surrogate Harry Reid, is still very much interested in the president having the power of a “kill switch” over the internet. This would give Barack Obama the same ability to control the media and information as Presidents Ahmadinejad in Iran and Mubarak in Egypt have used to shut down dissent.
[Here's the latest status on the attempts in the Senate to push this forward from Big Government.]
So ………..just in case…..I will be printing these as I find them……
Submitted by smartknowledgeu via ZeroHedge
This is a great companion article to the brief article I posted yesterday about the expected increasing growing civil unrest and violence worldwide that will be the fallout from Central Banks’ highly inflationary fiat currency devaluation schemes. If mass civil unrest strikes a country, a government may respond by banning internet access and severely restricting information flow. To address this concern, Patrick Miller & David Daw just published an article to let you know how you can maintain your freedom of information even when your government tries to ban this right.
I’ve reprinted some of the most pertinent excerpts from Get Internet Access When Your Government Shuts it Down, by Patrick Miller & David Daw below. I figured that this information will probably be useful to someone living in a country where the next revolution is brewing.
“Even if you’ve managed to find an Internet connection for yourself, it won’t be that helpful in reaching out to your fellow locals if they can’t get online to find you. If you’re trying to coordinate a group of people in your area and can’t rely on an Internet connection, cell phones, or SMS, your best bet could be a wireless mesh network of sorts–essentially, a distributed network of wireless networking devices that can all find each other and communicate with each other. Even if none of those devices have a working Internet connection, they can still find each other, which, if your network covers the city you’re in, might be all you need. At the moment, wireless mesh networking isn’t really anywhere close to market-ready, though we have seen an implementation of the 802.11s draft standard, which extends the 802.11 Wi-Fi standard to include wireless mesh networking, in the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) XO laptop.”
“However, a prepared guerrilla networker with a handful of PCs could make good use of Daihinia ($25, 30-day free trial), an app that piggybacks on your Wi-Fi adapter driver to turn your normal ad-hoc Wi-Fi network into a multihop ad-hoc network (disclaimer: we haven’t tried this ourselves yet), meaning that instead of requiring each device on the network to be within range of the original access point, you simply need to be within range of a device on the network that has Daihinia installed, effectively allowing you to add a wireless mesh layer to your ad-hoc network. Advanced freedom fighters can set up a portal Web page on their network that explains the way the setup works, with Daihinia instructions and a local download link so they can spread the network even further. Lastly, just add a Bonjour-compatible chat client like Pidgin or iChat, and you’ll be able to talk to your neighbors across the city without needing an Internet connection.”
“[Another alternative is] FidoNet–a distributed networking system for BBSes that was popular in the 1980s. FidoNet is limited to sending only simple text messages, and it’s slow, but it has two virtues: Users connect asynchronously, so the network traffic is harder to track, and any user can act as the server, which means that even if the government shuts down one number in the network, another one can quickly pop up to take its place.”
“You could also take inspiration from groups that are working to create an ad-hoc communications network into and out of Egypt using Ham Radio, since the signals are rarely tracked and extremely hard to shut down or block. Most of these efforts are still getting off the ground, but hackers are already cobbling together ways to make it a viable form of communication into and out of the country. Given enough time and preparation, your ham radio networks could even be adapted into your own ad-hoc network using Packet Radio, a radio communications protocol that you can use to create simple long-distance wireless networks to transfer text and other messages between computers. Packet Radio is rather slow and not particularly popular (don’t try to stream any videos with this, now), but it’s exactly the kind of networking device that would fly under the radar.”
“In response to the crisis in Egypt, nerds everywhere have risen to call for new and exciting tools for use in the next government-mandated shutdown. Bre Pettis, founder of the hackerspace NYC Resistor and creator of the MakerbotApps for the Appocalypse,” including a quick and easy way to set up chats on a local network so you can talk with your friends and neighbors in an emergency even without access to the Internet. If his comments are any indication, Appocalypse apps may be headed your way soon. Tons of cool tech are also just waiting to be retrofitted for these purposes. David Dart’s Pirate Box is a one-step local network in a box originally conceived for file sharing and local P2P purposes, but it wouldn’t take much work to adapt the Pirate Box as a local networking tool able to communicate with other pirate boxes to form a compact, mobile set of local networks in the event of an Internet shutdown.”
Speculation Obama Will Not Run in 2012??? Merciful Zeus……
Abe just sent me an awesome link. And when I read it, I had one of those ‘great merciful Zeus!’ moments. It’s Hillbuzz giving all of the clear, logical reasons for why Obama will NOT run for re-election.
“It might seem incredible that Obama would just walk away from the presidency, leaving Democrats in the lurch for 2012, but I was told, repeatedly, to watch what David Axelrod and Michelle Antoinette have both been doing in recent weeks…they give no signs whatsoever that they are engaged in a re-election campaign. Axelrod was recently on a Chicago Sunday political show and kept dodging all talk of the re-election campaign, which is like Oprah Winfrey turning down a large supreme pizza or a sandwich bigger than her head. It’s unheard of. Axelrod’s favorite topic in the world is how he got Obama elected president, which means Axelrod’s second favorite topic in the world should be how he is going to re-elect Obama in 2012… (But) when given the perfect opportunity to wax on about that, and praise himself and his efforts, he completely dodged the topic, wanting nothing to do with it. Why? Pressed by the reporter, Axelrod apparently said “the president’s re-election is just one of the interesting projects I am working on”…Chicago political veterans picked up on this and saw it as a sign that those in the Obama ranks either do not believe he will win in 2012, or that he won’t even run, largely because of the former.
Then there was Michelle Antoinette on Good Morning America last Thursday or Friday, wearing something hideous as usual, also downplaying the re-election campaign and dodging questions about her involvement in it. This, too, is strange because Michelle Antoinette has always loved talking about how influential, powerful, and generally wonderful she (thinks she) is. Like Axelrod, Michelle Antoinette poo-poohed the re-election talk, not taking the opportunity to go on about how much her husband deserved a second term to keep doing whatever it is all day, the end results of which the American people clearly hate. She had a very “one and done” attitude about living in the White House for Obama’s term, and people here in Chicago who know her said that she was in particularly bad spirits after returning to DC from Hawaii, because she just didn’t want to ever leave and resents having to spend any time at all in DC.”
———
My opinion? I’m scared Hillbuzz is right. They’ve got a nose for things that truly amazes and I’m terrified they’ve smelled the truth. But the thing is, I want him to run. Why? Because if he does, he will destroy his party. I’m saying he won’t just take himself down in flames, he’ll take the Senate as well. It will go Republican to the point where we will have a veto-proof Congress. And that, my friends, is the best gift we could give for the next President of the United States – Sarah Palin and her VP Lt. Col. Allen West.
However, if Obama doesn’t run, it means the nominee almost certainly will be Hillary – and she could win. If Barack gets out of her way, she could win. It would be tight but she could do it. And worse, she could stop the Republican surge from taking over Congress. I don’t want that happen.
Please, please, please – let Hillbuzz’s nose be sniffing the wrong scent. Please, pretty please.
Valerie Jarrett’s Diva Moment, Generally Speaking
At an exclusive dinner this week at the prestigious Alfalfa Club in Washington, D.C., White House advisor Valerie Jarrett leaned back in her chair and ordered a general to get her a glass of wine. She apparently thought his uniform was that of the wait-staff.
She did NOT say ‘please’.
http://dailycaller.com/2011/02/01/valerie-jarrett-to-uniformed-general-more-wine-garcon/
This shocked everyone in the room so badly that Jarrett’s dinner companion, White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, burst into nervous giggles. But Jarrett herself didn’t blink an eye and simply sat there waiting for the man to obey her order.
This most definitely was not a mistake on her part, she knew exactly what she was doing. First off, the room was filled with waiters; worse, the officer himself had “several stars” and a “chestful of medals”. I’m sure everyone in the room held their breath waiting for the general to tell her to take a hike. Instead, in an awesome display of the discipline inherent in our awesome American soldiers, the general quietly got her glass of wine, handed it to her and then resumed his seat – at the same table.
And the general’s awesome self-control didn’t stop there; afterwards, he refused to speak of this insult to anyone. Instead, it was an anonymous tipster at the same banquet who alerted the Daily Caller about what happened. Readers will be interested in knowing that so far none of the other media has bothered to mention this stunt of Jarrett’s. Obviously the mainstream media feels that an American general being humiliated by the President’s top advisor in public is not news that “fit to print”.
Obama Plans Muslim Brotherhood Take-Over in Egypt
The Obama administration has trained a subversive to lead the protests in Egypt. It has also secretly met with members of the Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo to discuss what’s next for Egypt after President Mubarak leaves/is deposed/is other otherwise removed. This is an unsettling piece of news for other long-time heads of state in the region, who have counted on America’s support should the worst happen. Obama’s support is fickle.
This comes from Aaron Klein of World Net Daily, and is most disturbing news, as it shows either the naivete of Barack Obama, his narcissism in thinking that he is a regime-builder, or his intention to have radical Islam gradually take over Northern Africa. Any of those gets the same result: A much more dangerous world for Israel and the west.
The claim comes amid charges from Cairo that the Obama administration has been encouraging the protests rocking Egypt and targeting the rule of Mubarak, a key U.S. ally in the Middle East.
The Egyptian intelligence official told WND his government has information of a meeting that took place yesterday between Issam El-Erian, a senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, and Frank Wisner, a former U.S. ambassador to Egypt.
The Obama administration dispatched Wisner to Egypt this past weekend to report to the State Department and White House a general sense of the situation in the embattled country.
The Egyptian intelligence official speaking to WND said the meeting took place inside the American embassy in Cairo.
The Muslim Brotherhood seeks to spread Islam around the world, in large part using nonviolent means. Hamas and al-Qaida are violent Brotherhood offshoots.
The latest information is not the first charge by the Egyptian government that the Obama administration has been working with or encouraging the opposition to Mubarak.
Last week, a senior Egyptian diplomat stated the Egyptian government suspects elements of the current uprising there, particularly political aspects, are being coordinated with the U.S. State Department and Obama administration.
The senior Egyptian diplomat told WND the Mubarak regime suspects the U.S. has been aiding protest planning by Mohamed ElBaradei, who is seen as one of the main opposition leaders in Cairo.
ElBaradei, former International Atomic Energy Agency chief, has reinvented himself as a campaigner for “reform” in Egypt. He is a candidate for this year’s scheduled presidential elections.
ElBaradei arrived in Cairo just after last week’s protests began and is reportedly being confined to his home by Egyptian security forces.
He is seen as an ally of the Muslim Brotherhood.
This past weekend, the London Telegraph reported the U.S. embassy in Cairo in 2008 helped a young dissident attend a U.S.-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police.
The Telegraph would not identify the dissident, but said he was involved in helping to stir the current protests. The report claimed the dissident told the U.S. embassy in Cairo that an alliance of opposition groups had a plan to topple Mubarak’sgovernment.
The disclosures, contained in U.S. diplomatic dispatches released by the WikiLeaks website, show American officials pressed the Egyptian government to release other dissidents who had been detained by the police.
The White House has been almost openly championing the unrest in Egypt.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for an “orderly transition” to democracy in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood is the main opposition group.
The U.S. State Department would neither confirm nor deny the report.

Obama Regime Circles Wagons, Won’t Produce Documents to Issa Committee
Obama administration refuses to produce documents to Issa committee
Did Issa think this would be done “voluntarily?’
Since the fiefdom refuses to follow a federal judge’s order to resume offshore oil drilling, may or (may not) follow another federal judge’s order to throw out ObamaCare, should it be any surprise that the Obama administration is thumbed its nose at a massive document request ( done WITHOUT subpoena) from Congressman Darrell Issa’s Oversight and Government Reform Committee?
I assume a request to “voluntarily” produce documents is a necessary precursor to a more formal subpoena.
But Issa is hitting back Tuesday with a demand key documents be sent in two days.
The Obama snub is the first sign of how the administration will respond to demands for documents and testimony by key officials from Republicans in control of the House now that the GOP holds the power of congressional subpoena.
A Jan. 28 letter from the Department of Homeland Security promised to cooperate with Issa’s document request sent Jan. 14 – but Issa’s deadline for the documents expired the next day.
“I asked DHS to produce this information by Jan. 29 – two weeks from the date of my second letter,” Issa says in his Feb. 1 reply to the deadline snub, “The department gave no indication that it would not be able to comply with the deadline.”
Further, Issa charges that top DHS officials actually instructed career employees not to search for the documents he is requesting.
“I was disappointed to learn that on or about Jan. 20, 2011, DHS’s Office of General Counsel instructed career staff in the Privacy Office not to search for documents responsive to my request,” Issa says in the Feb. 1 letter.”
Soooooooo……are we playing patty cake……or are subpoenas forthcoming??
Meanwhile, back on the “plantation,” liberal media are whining that Issa has soliticited letters from lobbyists and companies asking which government regulations are most burdensome and need to be removed.
Here are some of the suggestions reportedly coming back:
– The American Chemistry Council is opposed to recently proposed EPA standards on boilers and incinerators, which are designed to “significantly cut emissions of pollutants that are of particular concern for children.”
– In a nine-page letter, the Business Rountable outlines 22 regulations it would like changed, in “three major areas of greatest concern: environmental regulation, financial reform, and health care and retirement benefits.” In the financial reform category, Business Roundtable opposes in no particular order: CEO pay disclosure rules, disclosure of the use of “conflict minerals,” whistleblower protections, and derivatives regulation.
– The National Multi Housing Council wants a “review and investigation” of the EPA’s Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting (LRRP) rules, which the industry group asserts “pose a major obstacle for a [housing] market recovery.” The rules require safety measures for contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint, which “can be harmful to adults and children.”
– The American Coke and Coal Chemicals Institute requested a wide-ranging review of several EPA regulations, which it believes is necessary because, in the past two years, the “EPA has undertaken an unprecedented regulatory agenda by promulgating or proposing a host of rules in the areas of air, water, solid waste, greenhouse gases, and toxic chemicals.” In particular, ACCC singles out actions by the U.S. Geological Service to regulate coal tar, a byproduct of cokemaking often used as driveway sealant, and which contains “polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons.” The ACCC admits in the letter that PAHs “have been identified as hazardous to health and aquatic life.” Nevertheless, ACCC writes: “[USGS] actions have serious implications for our industry’s marketing of these sealants and threaten the economic viability and jobs of hundreds of small businesses that distribute and apply sealants…. We believe oversight investigations into the USGS’s actions in this matter are in order.”
– The International Sleep Products Association is upset with rules requiring flammability tests for childrens’ mattresses – the 2008 Consumer Product Safety Act requires that mattresses and other products marketed to children undergo flammability testing by an accredited laboratory. But ISPA notes that “the incidence of mattress fires, deaths, and injury and property damage, have dropped substantially,” and that “[t]he costs of these flammability tests can range from to $1150 to $2650 per mattress prototype.”
– The American Petroleum Institute attacks a wide array of EPA regulations in its letter. API also criticizes provisions in the 2007 Clean Energy Act that limit the ability of U.S. refiners to process oil sands from Canada. Oil sand extraction is famously “polluting, destructive, expensive, and energy-intensive,” but API asserts in its letter that “regulations posing constraints on oil sands processing in the US limits the potential creation of 342,000 new jobs in the US between 2011 and 2015.”
– The Industrial Minerals Association criticized in its letter a wide array of EPA regulations, including ones that haven’t even been passed yet — the IMA names “potential regulation of hydraulic fracturing under the Safe Drinking Water Act” as one such danger.
Looks like a good start. Issa says he will release all of the responses he received on February 11, along with a “Republican staff analysis.”
