Save your cheers about Senator Mark Kirk being sworn in as the new Republican to take over Barack Obama’s old Senate seat.  Yes, it was a hard-fought race.  (Though why should it have been so close?  Kirk was running against one of the most corrupt Obama Democrats in the state.  That the race was so close is not so much a tribute to Kirk as a criticism of his inability and his lazy staff to make political hay out of such easy pickings.)

But I digress.

As I have said since AT LEAST last January, Mark Kirk is one of the most despicable turn-coat, two-faced RINOS in the Congress.  I supported the conservative Patrick Hughes in the Illinois Senate primary and hope he will run for office again.   >sigh<

Mark Kirk, as a congressman, voted FOR cap-and-trade, FOR partial birth abortion, and FOR gun control (even though he’s  in the military.)  

Mark Kirk is also a closeted gay, who took a wife to run for Congress back when.  Apparently,  him paying for her law school and  she bestowing prom waves for a Congressional campaign was the deal, but saying cheese for another year of a Senate campaign was NOT in the cards.   “Mrs.” Kirk off-loaded her “hubby” last year as he announced his Senate run, though of course, wishing him WELL.  

Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay and in political office or being a closeted gay in political office.  But the RULES are, if you are a gay politician in the closet, you need to vote for the “cause” or you will be outed.   Kirk is in the military, presumably will get a military pension and benefits in addition to whatever he gets as a Congressman and now a Senator, but he voted in FAVOR of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT)  policy against openly-gay military service.   While Kirk enjoys all his various cushy perks, hundreds of gays have been fired from the military.  Nary a word from Kirk.

So besides being a Republican-in-name-only, Mark Kirk has been a hypocrite to his own homosexuals.  It’s very possible he’s about to improve his standing with them.

In his first missive in the new job, an open letter in the Chicago Tribune today, Kirk is already blathering about “bipartisanship” and reaching “across the aisle.”

Though Kirk drew the ire and an “outing” last year in Congress by voting for “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the DADT will come up for a vote soon in the Senate.  There is a Congressional study and a “poll” (for what’s it worth, the standards used were questionable at best) of the military which are due soon.   Odds are the poll and the study will conclude that DADT should be repealed.  Kirk has indicated that he may support repeal of DADT if he has “research” to use as the scapegoat.  His ex-wife said in an interview last year that he will vote FOR repeal of DADT “the next time.”

So homosexuals will be thrilled with the new senator from Illinois and Republicans will have their first indication that having Mark Kirk as a Senator is the same, if not worse, than having a Democrat.  At least with a Democrat, you KNOW where they stand.  Kirk will forever be swinging like a loose-hinged gate  in the wind.

Mark my words.  Mark Kirk will be the undoing of many votes that will be desperately needed to turn this country around.  He is a Senator possibly to the left of the slick-as-mercury  senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine.  He is a senator just like Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) gay…..very closeted……and voting like Democrats because they are blackmailed by Democrats because they are gay and the closet.  The HillBuzz boyzzz in Chicago write about this gay Republican phenomenon often.  Wouldn’t it be sooooo much better if these gentle men just come out and get it over with, be who they are, see if their constituents will vote for them AS THEY ARE, and do something GOOD for the gay community.

For now, the election and swearing-in of Senator Mark Kirk is NOTHING for Republicans to celebrate.

I will be the first to eat my fedora if Mark Kirk proves me wrong and votes like a Republican.

( and by the way, I agree with HillBuzz…Congressman Aaron Schock, come out now.  You’ll feel so much better.)
